And the rains came.

We had a lovely time with Scott's Mom this week. She joined us to visit, spend Thanksgiving, and dote on her grandsons. We were all thrilled to have her company.

On Wednesday, all day I kept mentioning to her that it looked like it was going to rain. The clouds were swirling and gray, I pulled all the clothes off the line, then it seemed to clear. That night we went to Souk Madinat, one of our favorite places in Dubai, and we had dinner at Toscana. After dinner, we took the abra tour through the manmade canals that wind around the Al Qasr and the Madinat Jumeirah hotels. When we arrived at home, the skies looked threatening, and we even thought we saw some lightening. Little did we know what was in store. As the rains began to fall, I was thrilled. It had rained one other time since we have been here, but we missed the event and only woke to droplets on the ground. This time, we were witnessing a full fledged thunderstorm. The rain smelled amazing and brought with it welcome cooler temperatures.

Shortly after taking this video, I remembered that when our driver washed the windows, they leaked. Imagine me bolting into the house to find small rivers under every window of the house that faced the front. AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! Scott, his Mom, Alex and I sprinted to pull furniture, toys and boxes away from the windows, sop up and mop up the water on the floor, and stuff the leaking windowsills with towels. All on Thanksgiving Eve. Alex was thrilled with the whole exercise and the excitement it generated. He kept telling us his "brilliant ideas" to keep the water from ruining our uninsured belongings. He was pretty cute and kept us laughing through our muttered curse words.

The maintenance men came today to caulk around the windows. Hopefully, the next time it rains I will be able to enjoy it more.

Oh, all those towels, all that laundry...great footage of the storm though. Yesterday was pretty awesome too, wasn't it? Talk about getting soaked!
