Kicks on Route 66 (Part Two)

The drive to Al Ain took a little over an hour, and interesting objects herald one's arrival to this Abu Dhabi emirate city...

The real star of Al Ain is Jebel Hafeet. After being in the flat of Dubai, this mountain was a welcome sight. The drive up was spectacular and so were the views from the top.

The Long and Winding Road

The parking lot and cafe at the top, where people were playing soccer and cricket.

Another fun destination in Al Ain is the zoo. We mistakenly thought the zoo opened at 4pm, so we did not have as much time there as we had hoped. The actual timings are something like 9am to 7pm. (BTW "timings" is one of my favorite expressions here, used in place of "hours". "Boot" is one of my other favorites. It is used instead of "trunk". The car boot..). Anyway, we had a great time exploring the zoo, with Jebel Hafeet in the background.

We had so much fun in Al Ain, the kids were begging to go back before we even left. This weekend, we will indulge them. We have reservations at the Mercure Hotel at the top of Jebel Hafeet, and we are going to check out the Al Ain Aerobatic Show. Should be fun!
