FAQ's

Since announcing our upcoming move to Dubai, there have been lots of questions from our friends and family. Here are some answers, as best as we can give them.

Where is Dubai?
No, it is not Dubuque. That town is in Iowa. It is not DuBois, either. That town is in PA. Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates on the Persian Gulf. Check if out on a map.

Why are you moving there?
Scott and his partner want to be in the same place to run their private equity investment business, Scimitar. Scott will also be filling the role of CFO for someone looking to expand in the UAE.

When are you leaving?
We wil be flying out some time the week of August 11th. We need to be there in time for the kids to start school on August 18th.

What about school?
The kids will attend the American School of Dubai, which has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools since 1977.

Where will you live in Dubai?
We will be in temporary furnished housing for a while, as we wait for our belongings to arrive by cargo ship. Once we are there, we hope to find a villa (house) to rent. It has been fun to browse the classifieds to see the different types of homes we could live in. You can check it out, too at: Better Homes.

Will you visit?
YES!!! We will be back every summer from mid June to mid August. We will spend some of our time in the New York City area and some of our time in the Lansdale, PA area.

Can I visit you?
ABOSULUTELY! We can't wait to have visitors once we get settled. Dubai is about a 14 hour flight, and you can catch a direct flight from JFK on Emirates or from Atlanta, GA on Delta.

What about your house?
Sadly, we will be selling our house. We absolutely love our house and neighborhood, but it just is not realistic to hold onto it.

What about your dog?
Lucky for us, friends in the neighborhood have taken Kipper to join their family. We are sad that he won't make this adventure with us, but realize that a 14 hour flight in cargo to go to the desert just is not in his best interests.

Whew. I think those are the questions I have heard the most. As things progress, we promise to keep you all informed!
-C.
